At the traditional Passover meal, the Israelites sang a song called dayenu. The word means, "it would have been enough."

What a beautiful prayer, it would have been enough.

It would have been enough for you to wake me up yesterday, but you woke me up today.

It would have been enough for you to wake me up, but you woke me up healthy.

It would have been enough for you to give me health, but you gave me a healthy family.

It would have been enough for you to give me a healthy family, but you gave me a good family.

It would have been enough for you to give me a good family, but you gave me good friends.

It would have been enough for you to give me good friends, but you gave me good acquaintances.

It would have been enough for you to give me good acquaintances, but you introduce me to kind strangers.

It would have been enough for you to introduce me to kind strangers, but you let me see your son in them.

It would have been enough for you to show me your son, but you gave me your son.

It would have been enough for you to give me your son, but you gave me your heart.

"The Christian mystic Meister Eckhart once said that if the only prayer we ever prayed in this life was, 'thank you,' it would be enough.

Just to be is a blessing. Just to live is holy."
